Wyler BBQ is proud to partner with Tortilla Flatz Mexican Grill. I am excited to start my journey in the restaurant business and serve the Plainfield, IL community with my fresh approach on BBQ. All my meals are cooked with fresh ingredients and over a wood fire, using a combination of oak and cherry wood.
I will provide weekly Sunday night dinner specials, featuring a new menu each week that you can pre-order online for pickup. Catering for events, parties, and weddings. An original recipe BBQ sauce that you can purchase online to enjoy at home. I will also share featured recipes that are published in Plainfield Neighbors Magazine.

"The bacon wrapped turkey breast may be about the best thing I ever ate! You even get homemade BBQ sauce with it, which is outstanding! I love knowing when I place the order, that I get the added bonus of him delivering it to my door hot and fresh and that I’m getting an amazing meal!"

"I have enjoyed meals from Wyler BBQ on many occasions. The meats are always tender and seasoned to perfection. Some of my absolute favorites have been the brisket tacos, the pulled pork sandwiches, and of course the ribs. Tom's BBQ sauce blend is a perfect mix of tangy and sweet with a little kick. I'll order Wyler BBQ again and again and highly recommend them to any BBQ lover!"

Hello
My BBQ journey started in July of 2015. My wife, Laura, gifted me my first smoker for our one-year wedding anniversary. At the time she didn’t think I would use it much, but I was passionate about getting one, and she surprised me with it. I was 35 years old at the time.
My first smoker was an electric smoker by Masterbuilt. The small box type smoker. It was not fancy. It did not have bluetooth, or even a glass panel on the door to look at the food cooking inside. It had a temperature gauge on the door. The temperature dial was similar to an electric griddle. A dial you would turn to the color you thought was in the temperature range you wanted to be in. Very scientific.
My first time cooking with it was an absolute disaster. I chose a pork butt. Why? Because everyone said it was the easiest thing you could make and practically impossible to mess up. At the time I was a newbie, I didn’t know any better, so I followed a step by step recipe on how to cook one online. It said to cook for 8 to 10 hours at 250 degrees. It didn’t say anything about internal temperatures or resting times after the cook.
The pork butt I chose was about 13 pounds. At the time I thought well if I am going to do this I’m going to go big! So, I cooked it for about 9 or 10 hours. It looked done to me. I pulled it out and brought it in the house.
I grabbed two forks and was ready to pull the pork apart. Well it didn’t shred like the recipe said it would. I grabbed a knife and sliced it open. The meat was cooked through, no pink, but it was tough. We ended up ordering a pizza that night.
With almost a decade of cooking in the books, I've come along way. I have had my recipes featured in Plainfield Neighbors Magazine and I have had opportunities to serve my take on BBQ to the community.
I am blessed to have the opportunity to work with Cristina and Tortilla Flatz Mexican Grill to turn my passion into a successful business, and I am looking forward to serving Plainfield and the surrounding communities. For me BBQ will always be a journey, not a destination.
